2018 - prior to the abuse

Jupiter Keyes follows Shan Isabell on Instagram, despite allegedly believing that she was 16 years old at the time. According to Shan, Keyes was born in 1978, which would have made him 40 at the time. She recalls posting a comment jokingly stating that she would get a moon dagger tattoo (for reference, the moon dagger is Alice Glass’s logo), which she believes led to Keyes following her.

2022 – 2023 - during the abuse

Shan and Jupiter began repeatedly messaging each other on Instagram. Shan recalls that the interaction was "immediately romantic and sexual." This is when Jupiter allegedly began love-bombing and exerting control over Shan. Keyes allegedly engaged in 8 to 12-hour-long conversations with her, during which he reportedly stated that he wanted to "be given the chance to exploit her." Jupiter allegedly purchased a flight ticket for Shan from Australia to Los Angeles after approximately two weeks of online communication through Instagram (although that is not when they meet yet for unknown reasons). He does not disclose this arrangement to Alice Glass, his business partner, who is also alleged to have been a victim of his abuse. During this time, Jupiter allegedly tells Shan that he loves her and expresses a desire to start a long-term relationship with her.Throughout their relationship, Jupiter allegedly instructed Shan to remove all posts related to her eating disorder recovery, stating that it would upset Alice Glass. However, he also allegedly advised Shan to limit her daily calorie intake to 600 to 800 calories and to "turn it into a game."Jupiter allegedly exerted control over aspects of Shan’s actions, including instructing her to write emails and messages intended to exonerate him in the event that she were to expose him. According to the statement, he also allegedly said that if Shan ever released anything, he would "drive up to the mountains and blow his head off," adding that this would be “how he would be remembered” and that it would be "[her] fault."During their relationship, Shan was allegedly infantilized by Jupiter. In her statement, she says, "I was only valuable as little Isabell to Jupiter." Additionally, Jupiter reportedly refused to call Shan by her preferred name, instead consistently referring to her by her middle name, Isabell. Matter of fact, Jupiter encouraged Shan to change her legal first name to Isabell, because her name was a "shitty name". Shan says in her statement: "My name is Shan. I am not Isabell. I am most definitely not "little Isabell". It sounds absurd but my middle name now triggers me."This behavior was accompanied by Jupiter encouraging Shan to use a baby-like tone of speech (described in her statement as a "baby voice") and referring to her as "little one." One of Shan’s friends reportedly observed Shan on a call with Jupiter speaking in this manner and told her to end the call, describing it as "terrifying."During one of Jupiter’s trips to Australia to visit Shan, he was asked by an Airbnb receptionist about his age. Jupiter initially declined to state his age, but eventually disclosed that he was born in 1978, which would have made him approximately 18 years older than Shan and five years younger than her father. Shan recalls feeling unsettled by the interaction.Shan stated that she was particularly triggered after discovering that Alice also speaks in the baby voice Jupiter allegedly encouraged her to use.Shan also recalled that Jupiter allegedly bought her a ticket to Brisbane, a larger city, after telling her that she lived in a "loser town" and would never grow as an artist unless she moved to a larger city. Shan left her home and belongings behind and began renting a shared house. At the time, she was reportedly struggling financially, which did not concern Keyes, who was living in a mansion.On August 9th, 2022, Shan allegedly flew from Australia to Los Angeles to meet Jupiter. Upon arriving, she was reportedly deported due to suspicions of attempted human trafficking. She was allegedly detained for 30 hours before being sent back after an interrogation. According to Shan, the investigation is still ongoing.Two months later, in October 2022, Shan allegedly met Jupiter in person in Australia. Prior to the visit, Jupiter allegedly told Shan to begin taking birth control and reportedly stated that he would not engage in intercourse while using a condom, as he believed contraception was her responsibility.Shan had never previously taken birth control and was reluctant to do so due to potential health risks. She alleged that Jupiter made her feel unable to refuse, which led her to take the risk regardless.Shan recalled that when Jupiter arrived at the airport, he immediately began showing physical affection by touching her thigh, despite this being the first time they had met in person. Around this time, Shan was reportedly experiencing a urinary infection that she associated with the birth control, which made her uncomfortable with the idea of engaging in intercourse.Prior to this, Shan reportedly told Jupiter that she wanted to wait before having sex. According to her statement, Jupiter responded by saying that he would spend his two-week visit surfing instead of spending time with her so that the trip would not be a "complete waste." Shan alleged that this made her feel guilty and ultimately led her to engage in intercourse despite the infection.Shan stated that the experience was uncomfortable and that she "didn't enjoy it at all." She recalled holding herself afterward, apologizing, and being unable to look him in the eye. According to Shan, Jupiter responded by saying, "Oh, you are shy!"Upon arrival, Jupiter allegedly purchased cocaine, MDMA, and ketamine. Prior to meeting Jupiter, Shan had only used marijuana and alcohol. Shan recalled that Jupiter allegedly put out a plate of ketamine at approximately 10 a.m. one morning, and they began drinking early in the day.Shan stated that she became unconscious by around midday. She recalled later waking up and realizing that sexual activity had occurred while she was unconscious. Shan says she did not consent to the interaction.She further stated that, due to the level of intoxication involved, she perceived the situation as having blurred lines regarding consent.Shan stated that during Jupiter's two-week stay in Australia there was one occasion in which he allegedly physically assaulted her. She reported that he had allegedly snorted her medication, an antipsychotic not typically used recreationally, and then pushed her forcefully with both hands. Shan described the action as aggressive and said she was startled and shaken by the incident. She stated that she felt confused at the time.Shan further recalled that the following morning, Jupiter commented that she was "acting weird" and asked whether it was because he had pushed her. According to Shan, he also stated that he had been "out of it" due to Seroquel he had allegedly snorted. Shan noted that despite this, he appeared to have recollection of the incident. She stated that she remembered the "disgusted look" on his face during this brief conversation.Shan recalled that Jupiter allegedly frequently asked her for nude images, which she did not wish to provide. According to Shan, he would then encourage her to consume alcohol and send them regardless, and instruct her to "delete them from [her] end," so that upon waking she would not remember or see that she had sent them.Shan further stated that, after approximately two weeks of sobriety, Jupiter allegedly joked that drinking would be acceptable if it was with him and if they had sexual intercourse afterward.Shan alleges that Jupiter made degrading comments about Alice Glass, her talent, their relationship, and their musical chemistry. He allegedly said that Alice cannot sing and that he needs to spend a few hours editing her vocals to make them sound listenable. He also allegedly sexually degraded her by telling Shan things about Alice that he did not like, like the reason why he wouldn't have oral sex with her.In the statement, Shan accuses Jupiter of having full control of Alice's social media. She says "Jupiter told me that Alice had asked for her Twitter password in 2022 and so he gave it to her for once and laughed saying, "she wouldn't have expected me to do that". [...] Jupiter also blocked me on Alice's Twitter account".She also adds that "Jupiter said (and so has Alice) that he writes all of Alice's interviews on her behalf. [...] He needed to be in control."

Later

One month after Shan publicly accused Keyes, he released his own statement alleging that Shan's actions were part of a smear campaign orchestrated by Crystal Castles. In his statement, Jupiter shared screenshots that he said showed Shan describing their interactions as consensual. Alice Glass also commented under the now-removed post in support of Keyes, writing: "Lots of love for Jupiter always [...] This has all been very triggering to think about because I actually WAS underage when the grooming / abuse towards me started [...] Jupiter and I are still good friends now."In July 2025, Alice Glass unexpectedly released a single titled "CATCH AND RELEASE", which some online discussions and interpretations have linked to Shan Isabell. In the lyrics, Glass sings:"Every day, every day you think about it, what you did (Shut your fucking face)".According to Shan, the lyrics may reference her allegations against Keyes and the belief that they distract from allegations previously made against Ethan Kath by Glass. Glass did not publicly specify who the lyrics were directed at.Later that year, in November, Glass released another single, "MERCY KILL". Shan interpreted the song as being about criticism directed toward Glass due to the allegations and as expressing the idea that Glass views herself as the only "true" victim. In the song, Glass sings:"What do you think I've done? Oh, why are you after me? / I'm locked inside this hell, asking, what do you want from me? / I deserve nothing, I'll take you down the cursed well / I think I know you, because it's never enough".In February 2026, Alice Glass posted an Instagram story stating:"I hate having to do this. My producer @jupiterioand I are being targeted by a smear campaign that I have reason to believe was orchestrated by my abuser. For anyone confused about things being said about Jupiter and his ex please read [...]"In the final sentence of the story, Glass directed readers to a website called Spiral Patterns, which Shan alleges was created by Keyes. Shan also alleges that the website's name referenced one of her favorite songs, "Dawn Chorus" by Thom Yorke.The website included audio recordings of Shan stating that she fabricated allegations against Keyes for Crystal Castles and that she did not believe Keyes was a pedophile, contrary to previous statements she had made publicly. Shan later disputed the recordings, alleging that she was pressured into making the statements under threats and was under the influence of illicit substances at the time they were recorded. She also shared screenshots that she said showed Jupiter sending her pre-written messages intended to be used as exonerating evidence.
